Rep. John Conyers Jr., D-Mich., introduced a bill in Congress that would expand Medicare to cover all Americans. The current bill is H.R. 676, which will provide Universal, Single-Payer, NOT FOR PROFIT Health Care. HR 676 takes health care away from the insurance companies and gives it back to the physicians.

The AARP is leading an all out email effort requesting seniors and boomers support AARP political agenda of asking Congress to cut payroll taxes on people who are currently working. I oppose this effort for two reasons and I contacted AARP to present my position.

Mortgage interest rates are at a 30 year low. Homes prices are also at an all time low in many markets. This is good news for those interested in buying a home or refinancing an existing mortgage. However there are serious considerations before making this move in a down market and during a recession.
